1 of 4 jobs in Michigan can be traced back to agriculture. It is a critical segment of our economy, and any recovery must include keeping Michigan's agricultural community vibrant. However, we are facing deep cuts by the federal government. The state must take measures proactively to soften the cuts when they come. We must encourage support of crop insurance and the revenue protection program. We must support the small farmer.
